Spotter TMS Adds Geofencing and Automated Load Status Updates

Spotter AI, a transportation technology company developing AI-powered software solutions for motor carriers and fleet operators, has added Geofencing and Load Status Automation to Spotter TMS. The update gives OTR and national trucking fleets a more automated way to track each load from pickup to delivery.

Keeping load statuses accurate is hard when every update depends on a phone call, a driver check-in or a late message from the road. Spotter TMS now places a geofence around each pickup and delivery stop and moves the load status forward on its own as drivers arrive and depart.

How Load Statuses Update

When a driver leaves the starting location, the load moves to En Route to Shipper. Arriving at pickup sets it to At Shipper, leaving pickup sets it to En Route to Receiver, and arriving at delivery sets it to At Receiver. Spotter TMS also records when the driver leaves the delivery location.

The update helps dispatch teams:

• Update load status automatically based on driver location
• Track arrivals and departures at every pickup and delivery stop
• Cut down on check-in calls between drivers and dispatchers
• Keep a Geofence Events history with the location, stop and time of each event
• Get a Slack alert when a driver reaches a later stop before an arrival is recorded at an earlier one

A Clear Record for Every Load

The Geofence Events history is stored inside each load, so dispatchers can see exactly what triggered every status change. If a driver shows up at a later stop without an arrival recorded at an earlier stop, Spotter TMS alerts the dispatcher in Slack for review. The alert is internal and is never shown to the driver.
